Hi Everyone,

Im planning a trip this May to the Philippines, yet I dont know where to begin to start looking specifically....

From looking around on the interweb Im thinking of maybe going to Puerto Galera.

Does anyone have any experience diving in the Philippines, can anyone offer any advice on where to go etc etc?

Im just a novice diver, have the basic PADI open water, so Im not looking for anything to crazy e.g. Deep diving, Night dives etc.

Thank alot,

F

search cebu, boracay, davao city - talikud island, samal island, diving place in the internet. im from davao city philippines...

F UNit - I've been diving in the Philippines twice. Twice in Puerto Galera and once in Dumaguete. Both times I stayed at the Atlantis Resort www.atlantishotel.com/. They are top notch. All of the dive sites are between a 90 second and 5 minute boat ride away. They also offer day trips to Verde Island (definitely worth checking out).

Puerta Gallera is nice (also stayed at Atlantis Resort) and the 4 dives a day wears you out. We dove there in '04 and '05. Bring your camera and Nitrox C-card for all the macro photography. This year we added the Atlantis Resort's Dumaguette trip, and the southern island of Negros is a little more laid back and the ride to the dive sites at the outer islands (Apo is a must see) are all 45 to 60+ minutes, but you stay out all day and the resort chef preps a lunch for the trips. All in all great diving just about anywhere you go in the Philippines!

If you are a newbie and need some hand holding, I suggest to pick a shop in a decent location. www.threshersharkdivers.com in Malapascua are great people for beginners. I'll be going back there in July.

While there are other places such as Bohol, Negros, or Palawan. I find that if you are looking for less hassle and inexpensive stuff go to Malapascua.
