PHOSaR HC - not in reactor?

Does anyone use PHOSar HC in a media bag in a canister or hang on filter? I don't have a reactor and want to use this stuff. Will it be a waste?

I put the stuff in a bag and toss it into a cylinder filter plumbed into my system. It works great.

I'm using it in a filter bag that I have hanging in my sump so it's
suspended in the water column.

I've read that it will work this way, though maybe not as fast as
in a reactor.

It's only been in about a week, and I haven't received my
phosphate test kit yet so I don't know how well its working...
