I have been run phosban for 6 months and then change it, and I just started running carbon and I figured once a month would be good for that. What length does everyone else run these two?
I was not sure on the carbon and recently received some advice from a carbon "guru". What this guy said is run it for two weeks, then remove it and rinse it well with RODI, then run it for two more weeks then discard.
On the phosphate, keep a track on the phosphate level in your tank with a Hanna or Hach test kit. When it starts rising, time for new GFO. The length of time is dependent on amount used, bioload and feeding regimens.
Makes sense Nook. I only have two fish for now and I don't see any in the near future so I should be good for a bit. I feed the Harliquin 2-3 shrimp a day so not a huge bio load.
