how fluidized to get the best out of the media ?

such headache ....

i washed the reactor sponges and i still got one side to have more flow .

is there any better method to make sure all the media got fluidized ?

what size pump are you using? A buddy of mine is using a small pump to run his reactor and he is experiencing the same problem when he puts too much media in the reactor.

I am using a 2lf phosban reactor and only have this problem when the media is about 2 months old. i usually change it out then.

how much of it are you putting in the reactor and what size pump (gph) do you have running it?

putting too much media in the reactor with a small pump running it will cause the symptoms you are describing.

If you're using alot of media in the reactor i would maybe reduce the amount and see if you have the same problem.

sorry to hijack your thread, I am getting a phos reactor as well.
shoud I get the one made by Kent Marine or 2 little fishes?
Any other brand you guys like?

im using the dual reactor from bulk reef supply. i have both sides packed with gfo pellets and i am using a maxi jet 1200 and both sides are fluidized. this reactor kicks butt.

I use a TLF and only have your symptoms if I leave the media in for more than 3 weeks. I usually try to change my media with every water change. I dont remember which PH i use but I think it was a Rio 200 and have rather good luck with it!.... If I had to do it over again I would probably have gone with Bulk Reef Dual Stage unit so I can also run Carbon.

Just my $0.02
