Phosban media in fluval filter

xroads

I have an extra Fluval 404 sitting around. Instead of buying a new phosban reactor, can I just put the media in the canister filter. I was going to use 2 layers of phosban & 2 layers of carbon

Thx

I suppose you could do that, but as much as the phosban costs you might want to consider just buying the real deal, just so you know you are getting you moneys worth. I believe the theory behind the reactor is low upward flow through the media without channeling, besides they are only 30 bucks, thats like what....one oil change?
