Phosban Reactor Location

Gonna Need A Bigger Tank
Any tips/ideas on where in my sump to place my phosban reactor? I was considering placing it in the drain compartment of my sump and then taking the output from the reactor to go BACK into the filter sock....any thought on this?
Any benefit to placing it in the return area of my sump?

Not sure if I did it right or not but here is how I have it hooked up:
The pump for the input into the reactor is located in the sump area where I have my protein skimmer and filter sock.
The output of the phosban reactor in going into the refugium area. I figured if anything bad came out of the reactor it would have been diluted some before going right into the tank.

That's why I was thinking of putting the output back into the filter sock, to maybe catch any debris from the reactor.

To me that would be good thinking and I thought about doing that, I just didn't want it to go back through the reactor again. I think they consider that a little less efficient but it would work.

paul hines has one on his 150 he might be able to give input.
ive been using the mesh bag. but hopefully in the future going to upgrade to the reactor

I have the return for my phosban reactor feeding right in the return for the main take, no ill affects yet. it's been running this way for about a year. I flush the media out well everytime I change. If I had the room I would feed it into my sock.

Hawkster new avatar ay - way to funny! Well if you would upgrade and get a larger tank when I do you'd have plenty of room!

That is how mine is....works good....sock will catch any material that escapes, plus u cut down on bubbles in sump.

My sock always has a red tint to it... from catching the utflow of the Phosban reactor. They warn you in the Phosban's instructions about not running the flow too high, cause it will pulverize the media. I'm sure little bits of the media are always sneaking out of the reactor. The sock seems to be a good way to catch them, and keep them out of the tank.

ReefArtist, just dreaming of the day.

I forgot to mention that at the end of the tube on the return of my reactor I have nylon over it to help catch any debris.

All media reactors "release" what are called "fines"...fine particles of whatever media that is being used, that when they settle on corals can irritate them. Lots of discussion on RC about that. The filter sock is the best way to prevent that.

I thought that the filter in my reactor was suposed to stop the fines. I have two filters in it and that's the reason I put my output hose in the refugium.
