Just curiosu if this is a worth while investment....seems cheap enough. if it is goign to help the tank out why not..

The reactor is cheap the media is not so your real investment will be to comit in replacing the media regularly.
I ran one of the TLF reactors but resulted too small for my 350 gal system so I adapted a Kalk reactor to act as Phosban reactor were I run 1200 grams of media at once. Now the small TLF reactor I use with Purigen.
BTW Phosphates are undetectable in my system, I now use a Hach bench colorimeter for analysis. The media (Neither Phosban nor Rowaphos) will not release the phosphate once saturated. You replace the media when you detect any phosphate on the reactor's output so you will need a good test kit also that may cost as much as the reactor :D

Why use a reactor instead of something like Phosbuster Pro?
Phosbuster is more agressive and is not as safe. IMO it is more suitable for a one time drastic removal rather than continued use / mantenance regime.

Just bought the TLF reactor, media and pump at http://www.drsfostersmith.com Best price I could find.

There is a reason they are so cheap! They are the old style model, that everyone complains is hard to exchange media because of a lot of screws. Just an FYI!

The one I got from them has a single screw on and off type lid. Took about one minute to open and fill. Not sure what you're talking about.

I'm convinced. I was thinking about getting one as I have some bryopsis and red cotton algae and I feed pretty heavy due to having a bunch of dendrophyllia and now you guys convinced me.

Going for the tlf at drsfostersmith.com with phosban and will use a mini-jet 606 since I've got them cheap and I sell them too.
