PhosBan Replacement Foam Discs?

I have yet to replace mine, they are about a year old. But when I ordered the unit I just ordered an extra set so I would hve them.

IIRC they were pretty cheap, so if you a re placing an order for other stuff, might as well add it to your order.

thanks... I still don't think they are cheap when you look at the cost of the material used :) Want to reduce costs all over

they're $3.19 for 2 from Marine Depot. I have no idea how you could make them yourself for any cheaper, but good luck to you.

well buying filter material and cutting them to size.

3.20 is not cheap when it cost tlf 20 cents to make them.

I buy the rolls of the blue stuff for like $5 a roll. Then I poke a hole in the center and slide it on the rod. Then I just cut around the red circle with scissors. You get a ton of them. They are a different type of material though. Its not as sponge like. It's really for filter trays. But its works fine. It actually traps more detritus, IMO.

But I only use a little media and change it often. If you left it in for a while it may get clogged. I don't know about that.

If you can find a material that is more foam like than the blue boned rolls, it would work even better. I used to have these blue foam blocks, they were for a canister filter or something, they were perfect. But I can't find them anymore.
