Phospate issues?

Just swithed my phospate test kit....oddly enough i went from 0 ppm to 5.0 ppm with the new test kit. Ouch. Did a water change and will retest today. the question is what is the easiest solution to removing and controlling phospate?

using RO DI WATER. using purified water. phosphate removers wont work long term so dont invest in them. Invest in a good ro di unit.

You can use a phosphate remover, but it needs to be changed out periodically or it will leach phosphates back into the system. Rowaphos or Phosban work well. And, as mentioned above, using RO/Di water, skimming and frequent water changes will rid the tank of excess nutrients and phophates.

Aaron thanks for the response.
Only thing is where I live the tap water is from desalinated water directly from the Red Sea. One of my friends who is a marine biology student even had it tested. In the end no need for RO DI water cuz all parameters are ok.

Could it be that skimmer is overloaded? Knowing that i have a prizm and this is my present bioload....check the picture cuz i dont have the aptience to write it all down

Skimmer might be overloaded ... one thing I would do, is to test your freshly-mixed saltwater [for a water change] for phosphate.

That should tell whether it's just the water, or it's just the water in the tank.

What test kit were you using and what are you testing it with now?

Didn't have time to do a salt mix, late night at the office, but will try tonight.

Previous test kit used was Hagen and presently using Azoo. THe only brands available in the market. Have seachem but not for phospate

My frozen foods were dumping tons of phoshate in the water. Overfeeding and the type of foods fed are a huge contributer to P04 levels.
