phosphate and carbon ?

You may want to hold onto the meter. Merck kit is difficult ( not impossible ) to find and is quite expensive. Something like $65 for 100 tests. I think the refill is slightly cheaper but your meter would be paid for in about 300 tests at the prices I was finding yesterday.

Ya...the meter sounds good. Read the other thread "do I need a hanna" and I found out they are more accurate in the low range so they seem quite good.

The MERCK kit is available from www.premiumaquatics.com

I find it somewhat hard to read as the sample is lighter then the comparision chart.

Do you ever have to calibrate the colorimeter??

Funny I found the Merck saleman pitch states:

The problem however with nearly all other test kits is that at the lower end it is almost impossible to differentiate between the different pale color swatches due to extraneous light and reflection from other colors on the comparison card.

The new D-D test kit overcomes this by providing two flat bottomed glass test tubes and a black polystyrene block, which allows the user to look down onto the color card without any stray light or color to alter the perception of which is the correct reading.

Are you saying their hype outruns the actual ease of use? Would not be the first time a salesman found a bug to be a feature.
