Tested my phosphates with a hanna meter, .05 ppm is an acceptable level for corals correct? having a brain fart and cant remember. anything under .1 is ok right?

gneral rule on everything I've read is .03 and below. I know when I hit .06 I started having a pretty bad hair algae infestation. I got back down to .03 and and was able to get it under control again.

0.5 is actually very high, its considered safe for corals under 0.03 actually, so based on your measurement you need to look at your water source or perhaps your rocks are leaking phos, difficult to say for sure why the level you measured is that high.
