Phosphate Levels

I am having trouble getting phosphates down. NYC has phosphates added for corrosion resistance (the 2017 water report lists it as high as 3mg/l). My test confirm the same from the tap.

I run this through a 5 stage RODI with two DIs and am left with about .2 phosphates. My tank is running a GFO reactor with HC GFO. Levels test as below. What would you say the reading is? Any further advice to get it down?

Never seen that kit. What one is it?

I would say somewhere between .1 and .2. Your guess on that one is as good as mine.
 
Bummer.

The RO should remove a high percentage of it, and the DI should remove the rest, right? Is your TDS meter showing zero for the permeate?

Maybe a call to Buckeye Hydro or similar company would help. See what they recommend for filtering PO4.

Great idea. I posted on that forum. My next move is another reactor to run on my 5 Gallon WC bucket for 3-4 days before that water makes it to the DT.

If you aren't already doing so try the spectrapure silicabuster DI resin/cartridges..
Running dual of those "should" help reduce or eliminate your phosphate problems compared to regular run of the mill DI resin..

Maybe even running dual RO membranes in series.. They do remove some phosphates with the DI resin supposedly doing the bulk of the phosphate removal work..

But I second giving Russ at Buckeye Hydro a call.. Thats their job and they have always seems more than helpful to anyone..

How could I run one of those on this unit (or can I) ? I have the below with a 125 membrane and second DI.

I should have asked that first..
Upgrade your junk/cheap crap :p
Those horizontal cheap systems are known to be vastly inferior/allow leak by,etc...

Phosphate removal requires decent contact time,etc...

at the very least you can easily add additional regular 10" x 2.5" filter housings..
This or just other addon kits..

Ok. I kind of knew this was the case. That add on canister may be just what I need until I replace the whole unit. I think I'll order that and the silicabuster DI and run as the last filter on my unit.

I would probably get the single unit with the spectrapure cartridge and see how it goes.

By that I mean, see if PO4 are dropped to zero, and see how long the resin lasts.

Running the Spectrapure HC as my final stage now. Not much improvement. Before the Spectrapure on the left, after on the right. Not sure there is a measurable difference.

So you are still running dual DI stages with new resin in the first stage and the spectrapure in the second?

Have you verified accuracy of that test kit?

Actually I now have the dual DI resins from before with Spectrapure as a third. TDS is 0.

My API phosphate kit reads about .25 (that's the lowest) as well.

hmm.. hard to believe..
I'd recommend giving buckeye hydro a call and asking for Russ and discussing the issue..
Hard to believe that there is zero reduction in phosphate after 3 DI stages..
