phosphate problem

I'm currently battling an algae problem that I'm attributing to a rising phosphate level. I just ordered a two little fishies phosphate reactor with some Rowaphos.Anyone out there using this setup and what kind of results are you getting.thanks for the replies.

I haven't used Rowaphos but I've used other phosphate removal media and I can't tell you how much of a difference it's made on growth rate of stonies.

I use ZeoVit for phosphate/nitrate removal. I've noticed an enormous boost to growth rate since I started using it.

Check this out:

My PO4 has been at .06 for a month straight. I figured it's not bad considering my UNCURED live rock is only 3 months old, right? For the past week or so I have had a cloudy tank which I cured with a filter sock. I tested my PO4 today and its up at about 0.1 ppm. "That's weird", I think to myself. So guess what I did? I tested my RO/DI Water I just made up. It tested 0.1ppm...just like my tank... I need to replace the Stage 6 Polishing filter.

So, is it safe to say that my tank water could actually be less???
We'll see, after I replace the filter cartridge!!

I was in almost the same position with high phosphate levels after curing my live rock in-tank. Mine actually got up to 1ppm right after the curing process was done. The Kent phosphate remover got it down relatively fast, but it was a pain in the *** having to replace it every couple of days--if you don't replace it for about three or four days, it starts leaching phosphate back into the system. I've had a lot better luck with ZeoVit--the phosphate level has never been above 0.03 since I started, even when I do massive coral feedings.

Another thing I just remebered...I need to wash out my BRUTE. I'm gonna drain the thing and clean it ...then make up a fresh batch.

what is this Zeovit and where did you get it ????

ZeoVit is a system designed to keep your nutrient levels as close as possible to NSW. It's the best system I've ever used for keeping nitrates and phosphates at undetectable levels. I got it through fragfarmer.com as they're local. Check out www.captiveoceans.com to find info about the product and distributors.
