Phosphate removal and clams

Have been having a recent algae problem and was planning to use a phosphate remover. I had heard that iron based removers were a problem for clams. Can anyone confirm/verify this?

Anyone used a phosphate absorbing product in a tank containing clams?

I have five clams ranging in all various sizes. My last clam got too big for the tank I had to trade it to a friend with a much larger set up. I run a PhosBan Reactor with ROWA phos. It works great for me and I have a mixed reef from soft to SPS. Not a problem for clams here nor have I heard of any from my other fellow reefers. Good luck

It doesnt directly cause problems but is thought to excite the protozoan that causes pm. If you start to have trouble then remove the phosphate media and add a bunch of carbon. You can remove the carbon and re-introduce the phosphate media once the symptoms subside.

I have been having an algae and phosphate problem too. My problem is coming under control by doing aggressive water changes and I just began running PhosGaurd or Phos Ban 3 days ago (I forgot the name since I am not used to using this). So far no problems from this. I also lost a clam before I began to take more action. I still have one. I am also running carbon. Good luck.
