Phosphate removers?

I am planning an using a phosphate remover such as Phosban or Rowaphos to help control algae on in my 30 gallon tank. My question is two part, first is there a specific product found to be superior or do they all do basically the same thing? Secondly can I add this product to my activated carbon bag or place in a separate bag in a high flow area of my sump? (my setup really does not allow for a reactor.) Any thing else I should know a before I use this? Thanks

dude attack at the source! yes for now use a nitrate sponge but u have to find the source! is it ur water source? is it over feeding? is it detris piling up? etc....do u know why ur trates are spiking?

Yes you can add it to a media bag. Ideally the water should be forced through it for maximum water contact.

sorry.... as stated above yes u can.....can ask do u know where ur nitrates are comming from? second using a sponge for algae control is plausible but the algea always wins. best defense against algae is stripping nutrient levels to zero! no nutrients no algea blooms. why? no nutrients equals no food for algae.that equals algea burning out and never returning.

I use RO/DI water with a TDS of zero, my nitrates are zero and have always been (no fish, no fish food) I have a good skimmer and the only thing I add to the tank is two part and kalk. You would have to look for a minute to find algae in my tank but it is there. Very small amounts of brown hair and some film on my sand. I can go a week without cleaning my glass and it only will have a light film on it, not noticeable until I make a pass with my cleaner. Trust me I know algae problems, my first reef tank looked like a jungle! LOL
