Phosphates in ro/di water.

Gives Bad Advice.
So, having an issue with my fresh water. I've had algae issues for awhile now and I haven't been able to determine the source.

I tested my fresh water today without any salt in it and it read between 0.04-0.08. Red Sea po4.

I'm trying to narrow this down. Now a few things that I should point out are that there is an in line tds meter being used. It reads 0ppm on the out put line but when dangled into the barrel it reads 280ish.

Help me narrow this down. My filters haven't been changed in awhile. Membrane is probably a little old and i do have some algae in my filters.

I'll test the water straight out of the filter.

I would get a little hand held TDS meter and verify water out of RO unit by pouring it in a glass cup. Then check your RO in the barrel. I don't think it should be anywhere near 280. That's really high. If that's the case maybe your barrel is contaminated.

Your the 3rd person I see a thread on RO water here locally is there a issue with the city water we didn't know about

When was the last time you changed your filters? I have a handheld meter I always use to spot check water at the beginning and end of a session.

Just changed everything today. Ppm out of ro is 0. Tried it in a cup. 0ppm.

The brute can is the same brute can I use for mixing salt so it's possible I had some residual from last change.

But I'm having a hello of a time reading this damn Red Sea po4.

Loose the Red Sea Hanna the way to go. I had Red Sea pro and didn't like the phosphate test but I love the calcium test and alk
