Photo Cell effect ("night mode")

How does the photo cell effect the system?

I.e. how dark does it need to be before "night mode" kicks in? And what exactly is "night mode"?

Night mode is whatever you set the bottom knobs on the controller to- pulsing stops and it stays at this setting all night. How much darkness is required is somewhat variable, you can see if it is dark enough because the lights will stop flashing on the controller and stay constant.

I should have been more specific -- I'm using a Singlecontroller 7091, which has no bottom knobs.

I'm guessing the multicontroller has another set of night knobs...

So the question is "what is night mode to a singlecontroller?"

The knob at the bottom is night mode- even on the single controllers. During day it pulses from the top to the bottom knob and at night it stays at the setting on the bottom knob. A single controller has 3 knobs one for the pulse interval and 2 for speeds, the lower speed knob will be night mode speed.
