Okay Everyone

Please post Photo Contest Theme Ideas here in this thread.

We will vote on a theme after I get some ideas of what you want from you guys.

Then we can announce the theme and let everyone have lots of time to submit photos.

I would like to see at least 50 entries next time.

Okay Past Themes have been as follows:

# 1 My Favorite Animal

# 2 My Favorite Fish

# 3 The FISH and / or CORAL, I've Had The LONGEST

I think we should just have some very good non photoshopped photos. So far for these three contest the only pic that has been some what impressing is the one of the BTA from this last contest. We should shoot for the all around best photo of anything in your saltwater tank. I know we have some good photographers in the valley.

That was my RBTA Nathan, I just entered for the fun of it :) I realy liked that photo, it was the best I could do with my old camera. The color of that anemone is actually eve more vivid lol.

Do you not think that this comment is harsh for those of us that had photos in these contests, at least we gave it a go...which one of these pics were yours? I don't mean to be rude at all, but that makes me feel like I didn't deserve winning on mine.

I didn't meen for it to be harsh or directed to anyone. I have not entered a photo because I don't have a tank and I have been at school for like 5 months. Im just saying that we need to step it up a level for the next contest, and get some very nice shots to show of to the rest of the country the quality of the livestock here in the valley.

Best overall photo is hard, because then nobody's judging the animal, but the person's camera. I don't like that idea...

Actually, I believe I agree with Brock. When we are looking at the quality of the picture, we really are not giving a chance to people that don't have the right camera or the right knowledge of how to take good pictures. I believe something like "healtiest animal" or "best in breed" or something like that, and try to not judge poor quality pictures but the animal instead.

Back on track: How about "best of friends" or "favorite couple" for a theme -- a mated pair, or a symbiotic relationship, or just 2 fish that pal around together.

symbiotic relationship would be a really good one, that's a good idea joyski58, and it would be interesting what people come up with and what critters have united with what.

Actually no, the judging is more on the composition and content.

at a max size of 400 X 600 even a 1. megabit camera will take a photo that has enough quality to win. Which is one reason for the size max format being so low.

I know I judge images based on composition and framing, the ability to tell a story etc.. While others judge on color and technique. Personally I don't think it matters much by what you judge your pics by as there is not one judge but many in this instance. A 1 mega pixel camera is more than enough to win one of our contests so is a traditional film camera if anyone remembers those :)

Plus from this point on I think it is important that anyone who has won within say the past 6 months is not eligible to win until such time passes, you will find this rule in most contests.

I want to see more entries and not here.

We will judge the photos in person at the next meet, so get your pics printed or developed and bring them in, someone will win.

I think that is more than fair, that anyone who has won within say the past 6 months is not eligible to win until such time passes, that is the reason I did not feel it was right to enter the last contest. I think this is a great contest, I wish everyone would get involved and have fun with it. I also think it would be a cool idea to put the winning pictures on the cvrc website.

I might have them in Photo bucket, If not they will be on my hard drive. I will try to find them this weekend and post them.

Okay top three in each contest to date has been posted under Photo Contest on the CVRC website forum.

Now we need to pick a subject / theme for August. Get Your photo snapping fingers ready. All rules will be posted on CVRC as a sticky sometime next week.

I will have to get with Ron and Council to see exactly how we are going to do this one. And will post the rules once they are worked out.

There was some talk of just bringing the photos to the meeting instead of emailing them. So I will post as soon as all details have been worked out.
