Photo newbie question

I downloaded a demo of a program or ebook called 123di. It seems full of info. The full version of about $50. Is this a good learning tool? Are there others out there than are more/less comprehensive?

Any reviews or opinions on this?

Hi-
I just installed the demo and looked at it for a few minutes- it seems very comprehensive and intuitive. Based on what I just saw I'd say yes- it would be a very good learning tool.

I purchased 123di yesterday. Started reading it today. It's extremely comprehensive for a beginner, hard to absorb all that's there. I'd say it's worth the 45 bucks. Lots of animation and exemplars, good beginner explanations.

I've gone through the camera purchase chapter briefly. dpreview is recommended for specifics. And the first chapter on color is a real mind-bender for a newbie. It's got a very large portion on PhotoShop, so...

I like it and would recommend it -- but, after all, it is a recommendation from a total newbie.
