This is a photo of Bayou, the regal tang that I got yesterday. The left side has more erosion on and around his eye. I noticed that he hardly ever swims with his left side towards the glass..I don't think he can see that well on that side. He is eating well and seems more comfortable today...he was out and about almost all day.

Poor fishy Linda !!!

:(

However he looks JUST like me Blue hippo tang :p minus the health issues (did you look up to see the difference in blue hippos/regals ?)

I can't believe that fish is still alive. I think I would put him out of his misery, good luck but I think that fish is beyond saving.

Keith I think they are the same fish, people just use a different common name for them.

By watching him the erosion doesn't seem to bother him in the least. He eats really well and seems happy. He loves his seaveggies, tears at it like a dog. I think he is very social because of his former home. It was a very nice couple with a sweet little 2 year old girl. Bayou comes right up to the glass to watch whats going on when you go up to the tank.

I hope she can just , but I also hope she don't make the fish suffer unnecessarly and prolong its agony. That is a pretty sever case and with that much of the fishes flesh deterating the fish can't feel that good. Its hard enough to reverse a minor case and have the fish regenerate its flesh, but a good portion of that fish is gone.

Right now he is in a tank by himself. I wanted to observe him and make sure he was eating ok. This Friday I'm going out to Springfield MA to pick up a Sailfin who also has MHLLE. He doesn't have as much erosion but is lacking almost all of his color. I will also quarantine him when I get him. I plan on putting them both in the 120 that was just moved upstairs. I will introduce them into the tank at the same time to help avoid any territorial problems.

I have been peeking at the Regal and watching his behavior. He really doesn't act any different than my other fish...so I don't think he is in any pain. When I was working retail at a LFS I would see fish that I could tell were uncomfortable because of parasites...but so far this guy seems ok. I think/hope I can tell if a fish is suffering and would make the humane decision to euthanize them if necessary. I sadly have quiet a bit of experience that with doing dog/cat rescue.

Krazy K - here is a link for regal/hippo.... btw..how is yours doing?

The fish may not show signs of discomfort. What I've read on the condition is that it is not fatal, and does not seem to negatively effect the fish's health.

Can't believe I have to quote myself today.....Some of you got to meet Buster, my foster Beagle. He was with me for almost 2 years. After he got into the foster program we discovered he had a heart problem and other health issues so I ended up keeping him. The poor guy started peeing blood. I took him to the vet and they did an ultrasound and said he had cancer (bladder). I was given the choice of medicating him and making him "somewhat comfortable" for a few weeks with no chance of improvement or to let him go. Hearing that we could try to manage his pain (which he was in) I made the decision to let him go. I stayed with him while it was done.

Buster was one the best beagles around...I'm going to miss my beagle-brained silly guy.

Wow, sorry to hear the bad news Linda :( That was a very nice & friendly dog. But those two years living with you I am sure was more than if you did not adopt him. I am sure he's very grateful for all you've done to give him a loving home.

Really sorry to hear. Difficult thing to do i know. I was with my grandmother when we had to put down the family German shepherd. :rolleye1: :(

You made the right choice as hard as it was.

German Shepherd Dogs is the only breed I've owned in my life. The last GSD I had to put to sleep completely devastated my health. It's a tough thing to go through. They become not just part of my family but one of my kids. All is well now I got another one to keep going.
