Photo Project - pics

Hmm...might hold off on that. Its incredible what photoshop 5.0 is doing with this .tif. The selective color tool is great. I will update the pic soon.

Adjusted the green to be more realistic. Wil check against real thing tommorow when lights are on.

with 2g of ram it is bogging my computer down

 I guess I;m not the only one complaining about this ram hog. :D

Everything freezes on my PC if I'm working on the pictures...

Colors are looking good! I have some polyps that look just like that.
No Gene- you're not the only one... I noticed it right away. But then, it doesn't surprise me really- Adobe programs have always been like that. Even though I paid for the upgrade I'm thinking of going back to CS :(

I don't know Greg, I love the CS2 even though it is such a resourse hog. There are few features that I like, personally, that CS does not have (like exposure and smart sharpening). I wish I was a computer geek so I could utilise it better but I am not. :D

I just read about your equipment being "lifted"...I can't describe how sorry I am that it happened to you. :(

OK. I installed Photoshop CS2. It opens .raw images fine. Just a few basic questions.

What is the best format to save the raw image too for editing?

Do advanced shooters mainly use the tools in the .raw window (with tabs: adjust, detail, lens, etc.) for editing, or is that window mainly for adjusting exposure and color temperature (i.e. what are the most useful/commonly used tools in that window)? I'm familiar with the toolbar on the left, but I can't use this in .raw mode, if you will.

How do I put my pic under my name when I make a post?

Tiff for most people. Any lossless format (not jpeg).
I can't speak for others but for me- during the raw conversion I make color temp adjustments and exposure adjustments only (no sharpening, saturation or resizing, etc.).
This article has info on how to post and resize images. The picture under your name is called an avatar. You change that via your personal preferences page (via the My RC button at the top of the page).

The reason why PS 5 can't open is due to the fact that there's no ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) plugin for it. It wasn't until PS7 when they first came out with ACR, as Greg said.

To get the most out of CS2 and get it to run efficiently, you need 2GB of RAM. Anything less than that and you'll have to sit in front of the computer longer.

Also, FYI, try out CS3 beta when you get the chance. It runs much faster than CS2. :)

Lastly, you can view RAW in other ways. Even Windows has an upgrade that you can d/l from their site which will allow you to view RAW files.

Thanks guys. I will be a little caught up in football this weekend, but I will share what I come up with when I get a chance. I have CS2 working and it is running smoothly from what I can tell. Geaux Saints!
