I have probaly had three phyto crashes so far and it is stopping me from continuing my rotifer growth which i need to get started again for my clowns. I have not found a reason of what i am doing wrong yet and need a little advice. I am using fresh io saltwater that is mixed to about 1.019. Any advice is appreciated. I am also using the disks for the starters. and i boil the water to steralize.
And will my rotifers come back to life if i add phyto to them again? or do i need to restart another batch
Thank you Dustin

i had a load of crashes and came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth the stress, why not use reed rotifer diet or instant algae works far better ime

I had a few crashes when I started, but havent had one in a while now.

I use microwaved fresh IO water, mixed to 1.019

I use "pretzel jars" (big clear plastic, hole drilled in lid) from sams club.

I learned that you really have to put a lot of air/bubbles into them to get the water "boiling" pretty good to maintain growth.

I have the jars on a counter, with a 4' shop light (regular cheap bulbs) about 6" away lying on the counter. Lights on 6:30am - 9:30pm.

I use it when it gets "real dark" and save about 2" in the bottom of the container. Add new saltwater, and 40 drops of FAF's PhytoFeast (F/2).

That's it... been rock solid for me, other that one rotifer contamination a few months back. I only clean the jars when they get calcium deposits on them - about every 3-4 batches.

ok thank you i think my problem is that i am not putting enough bubbles into the container.
Thank you Dustin

also does anyone have any instructions on how to build a clown fry catcher when they hatch because i can not get my clowns to lay on a tile so i need to catch them the night they hatch.
Thank you dustin
