Phyto Culture Question

lanshark

It's Landshark, aka SNL
Just picked up some pods and live phyto culture today. Supplier is an aqua farm and swears I can culture from this bottle and says best in the biz.

Having the instructions from when I had a culture from a Florida farm, aka Salinity to .019, 16hours of light a day, etc... I testing the phyto salinity when I got home on my refractor and to my suprise..... NO salinity !!!

So, my question;

If I use my Macro algae grow fertilizer from when I did this before and use RO/DI with NO SALT to match what I just picked up and start a CULTURE, will it work? Or, should I use RO/DI and mix to Salinity .019 and use the SALT free phyto I just received?

Thanks to those who know and can educate ...

Nannochloropsis can grow in 0 salinity, so I'm guessing that's what you have. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best salinity to use. Personally, I'd use salt water as opposed to fresh, but I've never done a comparison of growth rates in different salinities, so I can't offer any first hand knowledge on your specific question, though.
