Get the best valves you can, the plastic ones will make you scream and cuss all the time. :D It's a horrable battle fighting the cheap valves. But then, I am using 1 pump on 4-6 bottles at a time. A good tip to help with controlling the airflow into the cultures is to use rigid tubing to be placed inside the bottle and the softer silcone tubing to run it to the pump. Keep all the rigid tubing at the same level in each bottle and fill each bottle to the same level as well. Makes working the cheapy valves alot easier.

Agreed. Precision = Less Headache. The more exact they are, the more even the air pressure can be distributed amongst more than one bottle. FWIW, I can barely get four bottles to run on Petco's largest air pump. I can't wait until tax returns so I can get a large diaphram pump.

I second Adams remarks about the plastic pumps. Years ago they worked fine but the ones out now are junk. They don't adjust worth a darn and leak. I tried to save some money but I need to get some brass valves before I start my next brew.
