phytoplankton in tanks

good morning.
I assume that pods in a mature tank feeds on phytoplankton.
I wonder if I can speed up the proliferation of pods in a a new tank by adding phytoplankton to the refugium?

Phyto helps just about everything, but it gets filtered out very quickly. Pods grow very quickly on their own just on detritus. Any reason in particular you want more pods? You can actually just by a jug of pods/zoa/phyto, helps to start your tank out, but just waiting is generally the best way.

I did notice a growth in my pod population when I started using phytoplankton. I got it for my soft corals, so that's a bonus.

read a few article on photo-plankton, because i was under the same assumption, more photo-plankton, must be better for tank.
truth is they really dont know what benefits adding photo-plankton to a tank really does. because not all corals eat photo-plankton, and there is a risk like any food of over feeding. which will just do more harm then good

plus you can have plenty of pods without dosing photo-plankton
