Wanted some advise before I QT; is this Ich on the pectoral fin? (the white spec on the blue part of the body was on the glass); there are 2 faint white specs. Any guesses?

Thanks

marine ich

I do not see any ich on that beautiful angel. Maybe lymphocystis, no real tx for it, it ususally just goes away on its own. Good luck and I hope I am right.

I had some similar white spots my potters angel fin as well. I gave him a Freshwater dip and it went away. Im hoping it stays away and isnt ich. I've got a hospital tank up and running now just in case its ich.

Not saying this is what your fish has but when mine had nasty looking fins it was Flukes,,.,,

Is there any major difference in how flukes and ich appear on the fish? Both seem to show white spots as a sign.

That is a good question joe, not sure myself. Here are some more pics.

The spots are easier to see today. I have heard everything from freshwater dip, observe for a couple days, to set up a full Hospital Tank and treat like it was ich. Not sure which advice to follow. It is a really pretty fish and I would hate to lose it.

Anyone have a theory on these white spots?

Oh, one other thing. The fish has been rubbing itself against the rocks; has me leaning towards it being some type of parasite, but I am not experienced enough to know.

Looks similar to what is on my Blue Anglefish after the prazi treatment. I feel fairly comfortable it is not ich because in my case he went thru 3 weeks of cupramine at .5. I was told by a person who's opinion I trust to just monitor and see what happens. As long as the fish is eating there is no real concern.

Yup, same thing my potters has. Gave him a freshwater dip and fell off. Hoping it stays off. At first I thought it was ich, but now i'm thinking it might be flukes. I've got a hospital tank set up just in case. I'm probably gonna start treating for flukes.

Just make sure that the hospital tank has bacteria established to support the fish...Nothing like moving a fish to a treatment tank that gets an ammonia spike.

Bob,

How did you make out. My blue angel still has the spots on his pectoral fins and I dosed prazipro on Friday. I wish an expert could tell use what it is. White spots on the pectoral fins could be ich. In my case I don't know how it could be ich because the fish was in .5 cupramine for 3 weeks......Can anyone help with this.....What is it????

On the fins it could just be a mild case of lympho. Its hard to say for sure but angels seem to be susceptible to it.The potters in the picture looks like ich to me though.

Well I would be very ****ed it thats ich....Like I said my blue looks identical to the pic above but he went thru 3 weeks at .5 cupramine....

Thoughts....I was going to move the Blue to the main tank on Tuesday. He has been in QT since Jan 2

If that was ich would'nt I have seen it on the body by now? Its been a couple weeks like like.

I shinned a flashlight on his pectoral fins this morining and they appeared to be clean....Its day 2 of the prazipro. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the prazipro gets rid of it. They were real bad and got much better when I did my first dose of Prazipro. This is my second dose.

I would think that with your qt regiment you could prob rule out ich RBU1.It could be flukes although i suspect its a mild case of lympho as i stated above. My regal had those same spots on his fin and no matter what i did they just stayed while he was in qt.Once i got him into the display they disapeared over timeHowever it could also be flukes so useing prazi is a good idea to rule that out.
