Picasso and Onyx

Aloha all, I just picked up, due to power outages in the area and people giving away fish so they don't die, a Picasso percula. Nice fish well kept and very nice looking. I have him/her in a QT right now but I have a Onyx in the main tank already, just one. Will they get along and if so will or can they mate? When a percula is by itself does it always become a female? Mahalo for the help>;) J

I tried this combo once ( I can't confirm where the onyx was, my LFS wouldn't say) - they tolerated each other well until I put a frogspawn in. After that I repeatedly had to put the onyx into a net breeder to allow the picasso to heal up and regain some dominance. Eventually my pump fired the picasso between the glass and the breeder and he died.

was the picasso kept as a single clown in it's old tank? if yes then chances are that it is a female as lone clownfish often become females. same goes for your onyx. if they are the same size and you put them in the same tank there is a chance that they will often fight to determine who is the dominant fish which could end up in one getting hurt or even dieing. there's also the chance that they wont fight at all, but i'd keep a close eye on them
