Picasso Pairs

No worries about being off topic.

As we all know there are many things that can affect melanism in clowns. Gentetics, lighting levels and nematocysts seem to be the driving factors. For example c-quest onyx will stay black regardless of lighting etc, however some wc onyx will only retain their coloring if given intense lighting and a host with a strong sting such as a carpet anemone.

Thanks for the info. The clowns are by themselves in the tank. One is much bigger than the other they fought alot at first but now they do not. I guess time will tell what they will do. Goodluck with your spawn hope to hear some good updates.

Magga pie, if they are not fighting much now I wouldn't worry about it, it sounds like they are on their way to pairing.

Another update, the picasso x picasso pair resumed cleaning last night. I had lowered the salinity to 1.012 to keep a little ich outbreak down. They of course quit cleaning for a while, however when I increased the salinity again they started going nuts a couple days later lol. The female has become very aggressive and has been "teaching" the male how to clean and where she wants him to lol. I'm going to re-initiate saturation feedings today and hopefully get this pair back on track for spawning in a few weeks again!

The picasso x perc pair that spawned friday night is looking good, very little of the nest is still there, whcih does not suprise me seeing as how it is the males first batch, but he does seem to be doing a good job at tending them.
