Pic taken five minutes after I put him in. Anyone know what specific type of Echinata he is?

Definitely saving that website. Thank you.

The coralites on my Acropora don't look as neat and uniform as on the Tenuis pictured in your link. Could this be a result of it being cultured or fragged a certain way? That seems unlikely though.

Welcome.

It could be because of being cultured, yes. It could also be because it's a different coral.

Maybe aculeus Maybe latistella as stated...

I don't mean to be whiny or anything but I would really like to find out what type of coral I have with me for sure. Would additional pictures help with the identification? I can take some from different angles once I get home.

A skeletal examination under a microscope would be the most accurate way to ID. As reefers, letting it grow out would be the best.

I have an aculeus. At least i think it is from a liveaquaria frag pack. You can see one on their website under wildwood bottle brush acropora.

It looks a little like yours but not exactly. Of course, time will tell once the branching pattern becomes obvious.
