Pickle bucket for ATO reservior

A loca sandwich shop sells their 5 gallon pickle buckets for real cheap and I was considering one for my ATO reservior. They are obviously good safe so I wouldn't have to worry about anything from the plastic leaching into the water, but I didn't know if the vinegar would still be in the plastic and may potentially cause issues with the water quality. Does anyone have any idea?

Would not risk this option for a few dollars. New 5 gal bucket from lowes paint section better option IMO and not pricey by any means.

Rinse it out really well, and if concerned throw in some baking soda, a pump and let it churn for a while. I've used many containers that once contained foods, and such (canola oil) with no issues what so ever. What ever vinegar residue that might be left on the bucket will have no impact on around 100g of water. People also dose vinegar to help along bacteria that handle their nitrates and phosphates.

Since I work in the food industry, I use pickle buckets all the time. I have used them for ATO, WC's, TTM, and even used to use them for mixing water when I had the nano. I have probably like 50 of them around here with lids, we throw them away.

Their absolutely fine. They may have that pickle smell for a little while, but nothing toxic can leach from them. Besides whats a little vinegar going to do? People dose vinegar to feed bacteria, so its all good.

vinegar is fairly benign---dill and garlic aren't that awful. But a lot of vinegar could have soaked in. See how the ph of water stored in it behaves.

Pickle buckets were my first water mixing buckets...the smell l goes away after about six months
