i have had my lion fish for about 4-5 months and can not get it onto frozen foods. i have tried starving him for up to 2 weeks, training him to feed in one corner.
i have only been able to get him to eat 1 frozen if i first drop a damsel and then drop a frozen but after that he waits to see if the next fish i drop is alive..... fish is getting expensive to feed ....... any ideas ???

I know it's stupid but I had to wiggle my silversides (thawed of course) to get the attention. He finally ate but got eaten himself in the long run..........sorry I couldn't help.

ya lol tried that one too. i also would drop them over and over but wont go for them.... stupid fish

Try a length of heavy fishin line run it through the food and drag it back and forth in the water worked for me on my dwarf fuzzy .

stubby

I have got a few of them to eat frozen by doing the following

1. Used live ghost shrimp, hold with fingers and make sure your lion sees your fingers in the water with the live shrimp, when he gets close let go, so he sees it is alive. He will eat it.

2. After about 2 times of this then just hold the live shrimp until he grabs it out of your fingers.

3. As soon as he does this he should pretty much grab, silversides, shrimp, chucks of clams or whatever else you feed him. You may have to wiggle the food at first but pretty soon as soon as he sees your fingers he will come up to eat.

When I put my hands in the tank for other reasons, he comes up to me, see there is no food and moves on.

Hope it works for you also.

most lions will be finicky after first move..

-use silversides, if not accepted try clams/shrimp/oyster.. Get from grocery store not pet store.. way cheaper
-use garlic to entice.
-don't just drop it in.. wiggle it with a feeding stick..
