Pics of my Mainly LPS tank.

Wow, I really like it. A lot of LPS tanks are just littered with tiny, equally spaced frags which looks terrible IMO, but you have larger colonies that are very well placed. Interesting filtration method as well. Looks like it works very well for you.

If I can help you at all with the diatoms, they will only ever get that bad when you have silicate entering your system. If i were you check the water source, anything you dose, anything you add to the tank because for a bllom to be fueled for that long there is a stable source. If you have questions feel free to PM me. I have battled diatoms and purchasing the silicate test kit was a huge decision for me.

Thanks guys,

black_majik thanks for the offer but the tank is back to normal now the pics on that website are showing what it was like over a year ago when i had those problems all the other pics were taken within the last few weeks.

thecichlidpleco Gem tangs are £600 so about $1200

Beautiful looking tank snowsurfer. You should be proud. SPS tanks are highly over rated anyways.;)

Thanks for sharing it.

I saw this in your article:

"I have enjoyed many an argument with local reef keepers over tanks of "twigs" being told one day I will start to see my wrongs and start keeping more SPS. As much as I hate to say it, my tank defiantly now has more SPS than I thought I'd ever keep, but I am still confident I will stick with my LPS as the main coral."

I am pretty new to reef tanks and I can't seem to find out why SPS is such a big deal and "better" to keep than LPS. When I go to look at coral I just go by what I think is nice no matter the type, species or family. Could someone explain to me why there is such sps vs lps within the communities?
