Pics of my tank.

I haven't posted pics much. So I figured I would give it a shot. I haven't got any photography skills so be easy on me. The SPS frags are the ones that I won at the AC meeting. Let me know what you think.

This is just after MH out. 2- 10K T5HO, 2- 420nm actinic T5HO.

All right, that is looking good, like the clam, but everything is looking real good. I need to drop by your house sometime and check it out in person since we live almost next door:)

The acro looks nice (the one from the meeting). The Digi looks pretty bad (the one that is all white looking). Is it new as well? What are your water params?

The Digi is one that came in the frag pack. I have been worried about it since day 1. I am in the middle of raising salinity. It has been 4 days from 1.021 - 1.023. I believe that to be the biggest problem. Water params:
Temperature 76-77f
PH 8.3
Alkalinity 3.3 meq/l or 9.24 dKH
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate +/- 5
Phosphate test shows 0. I think that there are probably low levels maybe .1 or so.
Calcium is just over 500
Magnesium is about 1450

I feed cyclopeeze 2 times a week, DT's twice a week.

Light cycle:
ON 9:30 am 1 10K T5HO, 1 420nm actinic T5HO.
ON 10:30 am 1 10K T5HO, 1 420nm actinic T5HO.
ON 11:30 am 10K MH

OFF 6:30 pm 10K MH
OFF 7:30 pm T5HO's (1st set)
OFF 8:30 pm T5HO's ( 2nd set)

I think you are testing for all the right things. The params seem ok to me as long as they have been stable. Things don't seem to be bothering the tort or the validia. First thing I would do is move the digi (I think it is an ORA German Blue) to a shady spot. Maybe under one of the powerheads if there isn't shade in the back right. It may have just been shocked by the light.

Thanks for the help here Jack. I was worried about the white look since I got it. When it came out of the Solana tank at AC it was about the same as now. I am going to move it to the back left this morning. I remember being told that it would color up. I hope I haven't fouled this up. Do you happen to remember what all was in that frag pack?

Oh by the way, all parameters have been stable for 6 months or better.

It looks like a Tricolor, an ORA Blue Tort, an ORA German Blue Digi. I can't tell what the one on the top right is from your pic. If there was a 5th frag, I don't know which one in your tank that is. I've got some german blue if your's doesn't make it. I'll bet it will recover well in lower light. FYI, that typically goes for $20-$25 / inch, so you got a nice piece, there :)

Let me know if it doesn't work out for you. I've got a German Blue that just won't stop growing! :)

I have found that taking corals out of water will slow their growth.....so don't let it become a nuisance. FYI

Looks like a german blue to me as well. In my experience digis do not tend to RTN after bleaching like most acros will, so I'd say you have a good chance of bringing it back. As Jack said, less light would probably be good. If you're running a 12 gallon with a halide and 2 t5's (even if they are actinics), you're getting a good bit of light into the tank. I know one school of thought on the german blues is that you have to pound them with light to get them to turn blue (as opposed to the lavender/purple that most people seem get out of them)...

My guess though, is that acclimation to that light, a healthy coral to start with, and stable water parameters are needed before giving it too much. Good luck and I'll be the 5th or so to offer a frag if it doesn't pull through.

I moved the Digi to the back left under the Koralia nano. I am going to come up with a way to shade it tonight. There is still too much light ( I think ). Any ideas on that would be great.

The one in the upper right is a Miami Orchid Staghorn. So that rounds out the list of what I got at the meeting. Thanks Chris.

Thank you all for the offers. I hope I don't have to take any of you up on them. I think that is the coolest thing I have ever heard of to be offered like that. If there is anything I can ever do for any of you let me know.

Thanks guys,

Thomas

Temperature 76-77f

That is a tad cool IMO. I found most of my sps and LPS like it in the 78-80 range but you just have to watch the swing during the summer.
