Here we go with another stringy poop question. Does this look like worms? How to treat, how much time do i have?

Yup, Looks like worms.

You need to get a de womer. Either one that is meant for the food or one for a 'bath'

metronidazole or Prazipro are good choices.

Feeding is IMO better as you know the fish got the meds, but a bath can work too.

However, if you buy the one for the bath then treat it as a bath and dont add it to the food, meaning follow the directions on which ever you buy.

I don't know "how much time' you have. A lot of fish have worms and can last a long time, it depends on the type and infection rate; meaning if he has a large amount.

I would treat them as soon as you could.

most likley an internal bacterial infection. maracyn 2 will help. try to target feed with medicated food or remove to a QT for treatment. depending on bacteria causing the infection mortality rates differ. if its Vibrio it can kill quckly start tx asap

I'm sorry, I have to disagree.. With an internal bacterial infection.

I see no external signs realting to bacterial, but the classic 'string' from the anus is one of the best indicators for internal worms; might even be round worms..

And I would have to say this looks nothing like Vibrio; I see no hemmorages, looks like they are swimming find, no pathches or ulcerations...

(Im not being argunmitive but worms v. vibrio/bacterial are way different and treatments are different and so is the most likly outcome.

Fish with worms treated with the proper med, usually go on just fine..


Also what are you feeding the clowns? Are they getting some meaty foods?

I feed formula one doused in garlic extract then a couple times a week I feed brine shrimp by formula foods.

Yep I have read that occasionally they will have the white feces. I thought it might be a shot in the dark but I didn't know so I thought I'd ask.

Could be internal worms, but I have seen internal bacterial infections cause white stringy feces. Old or tainted foods can cause it. Store your flake and freeze-dried foods in the freezer. Buy in portions that you use within 2 months.
