well it seems that using AOL picture will only show up as a link here (i have used my gallery at petfish.net to load pics in the past but they changed their format and i have been unable to figure it out)

i guesstimate the lower pond to be about 400 gallons since its twice as big a a 200 gallon preform pond i saw (dug it myself so its hard to tell). the one upper pond is a preform 300, thats the one behind all the rocks, above that on an old metal table is a 50 gallon tub to make a water fall. the two ponds on the left are preformed pond and i think they are 80 and 150 gallons a spitting toad pumps water to the 150, and a spitting fish pumps water to the 80. the biggest pump goes up to the 50tub, trickles down those rocks to the 300, that comes out a spout to a spillway that has a water fall that goes to the "lower pond"

the lower pond is bigger than it looks, as it is 4 feet deep on the left side and has a "cave" as i used a big flat rock to cover the corner between the upper ponds, this makes the perimiter of the pond look alot smaller but gives it alot of "depth" as you sit and look into the cave as it looks as if i can go on forever (its only like 2 or 3 feet) the koi seem to really like the cave. its also a "safe-place" as the steep pile of rocks and deep water will make it hard for somthing like a racoon to get to the koi. we had trouble w/coons 2 years ago when one nabbed a chicken, we have not seen one since but its likely to happen again. i also have big old tericotta pipes in there for the fish to hide in.

That's really cool. Very very nice. I like the pic of the Koi trying to get the food off the top of the lilly pad!

i am glad its fenced in as she practically climbs the wire!
all those floating water plants (i know the name but cannot spell the name) well i started with 1/3 that many and my dad brought them to me from where he works at the delta (sells boats) if any one wants one i can bring you one at the meeting.
some of the other plants came from a local creek, the water lilies are cheep "bulb in a box" ones i got at walmart and petsmart (on sale there for $3!)
the area the pond is in used to be a doughboy pool! the frame was cut to 2 1/2 feet, the metal siding took out on front and replaced with 1/2 square wire (to keep frogs and toads in and safe) the metal siding on the rest was a sheer white so i painted rocks on it, holes were made around the rim to add 3x4inch 4 foot tall wire to keep cats and chickens out of my garden.
to hold the rocks together i used like $100 worth of "waterfall foam" a great product!! i reccomend it to anyone. you stack the rocks where they balance on eachother, squirt the foam in, it puffs up and holds them in place so well you can stand on them and shake them (i did that by accident and it held)
the wood deck is "green wood" left over from redoing our front yard,, and i had NO IDEA we had so many rocks hidden around our 1/2 acre!!! only like 7 of the rocks were sneaked from the river (just about killed myself carrying them)
not to mention
i lost 5 pounds doing thejob!!!!

thanks, we have been very picky w/choosing them as they get big and can live a LONG time.
i plan to get one more, i hope to find a black and white butterfly koi w/nice clean markings, maybe i will find it at the koi show, its on the last day of september and 1st of october at the...uh.....
