Picture help

I have a DSC-707 cybershot digital camera which takes great normal pictures but man does it take bad tank shots. I just wanted to know what lenses you guys typically use and if anyone has any good articles on take macro shots.

That looks like a nice camera that should have a good macro setting. Is it the picture of the tank fuzzy or too light/dark? Steve's Digicams website shows this nice macro shot from that camera:

i think a key is that you can't use the zoom w/ the macro setting you just have to keep the camera real close to the object your trying to shoot? however i'm not sure w/ his camera

yeah my shots have very dull colors and its hard to focus on the coral. I dont have any lenses though so im sure if i got one it would help out alot.

rawbom this picture was taking with the sony dsc-707 with a 62mm macro filter......not the best I took but you can get an idea of what your camera can do:

Hey, bckane...is that the add on "filter" type of macro adapter you used there? I have been curious about those and whether they work well or not.

Yes its just an add-on filter....works real well.......you can pickup a set of close up filters off of ebay for about 40 bucks....

any particular brand you recommend?

You know its like anything else.....you get what you pay for.!
Now for lenses's I would go with name brand....filters I've always used Tiffen. The close up filters I bought were a set of 5 filters.....made by DKE....think I paid somewhere around 35-40 bucks. I don't do a lot of closeup shots, but for the ones I shot with the cheap filter...they are not that bad....hope this helps.
