Can anyone send me some pictures of their pipefish, i'd like to explore maybe setting my tank up for them , or can you keep them and seahorses in the same tank together. If anyone could send me pics of the pipes I,d be grateful. You can send them to my regular e.m. address listed in my profile and as always thanks Dave E

Hey, I don't have any pics but just purchased a Janss Pipefish about a week ago. They can be kept with sea horses and other fish as long as they are not aggressive and hurt the pipefish. If i can catch my pipefish out i will send you some.

African Bluestripe Pipefish ~ Doryhamphus Excisus Excisus
These are small and beautiful pipefish..pictured is my male..notice the bumps on the snout. I now have a female as well..they are inseparable and live in the 29 gal refugium for my 75 gal. The male is presently carrying babies.
I just learned at IMAC that there are many species of this particular pipefish...there was a great seahorse and pipefish book there. I wish I had gotten it or at least the name and author. A warning though...these fish have NEVER taken any prepared food. I have had the male well over a year...they eat pods.

The book you are refering to is "Seahorses, Pipefish and their relatives' by Rudie Kuiter.

If you check out the gallery at Seahorse.org you will find pics of quite a few pipefish species.

I am looking at my book by Rudie right now and Doryyrhamphus excisus is the Indian Blue-stripe, not African.

^Just going off the book, not being a pain.

Beautiful pipe by the way, glad to see he is eating fine and in good hands.

Anyways..... I really would like to get a pair of small(er) pipes for my 25 gallon. I am trying to find a small speices that east frozen though..... hard to find.
