Pimafix & Melafix

I believe my anthias have some type of bacterial/fungus infection taking place. Is the stuff reef safe. Has anyone used Pimafix or Melafix on their reef tanks? Also do the medications work?

I have used Melafix and it is nothing but a Waste of Money.

I agree with the previous posters take on both of these so call medications. i have used both in the past and they solved nothing. Complete waste of money.....

thanks for the replies. any suggestions on what I can do to sole this problem. trying to get them out of the tank is not an option unless i remove almost everything and im not going to do that. the fungus has started to pass on to other fish. any suggestions are really appreciated. thanks. Rob.

You could use Garlic Drops in their Food it Boosts their Immune Systems.The Garlic Drops helped alot to Deal with a Ick out Break in my 135 Gallon.Ick is a Parasite and not Bacteria but Garlic has a good rep and I am a Beliver now.

I have been using Garlic everyday. I too believe in its healing powers, but i have been garlic soaking their food every day for 2-3weeks now with no change in fungus?

Tagging along also as I've got an Anthia with the same problem. I've had the fish for a while with no new addtions. Definately looks fungal. I'll be searching for information also and if I find anything, I'll post back.

Thank you. I still have the same problem. all i am really doing is garlic soaking all of their food with no positive results.

What about selcon? One thing with reef safe meds is that to be "reef safe" they need to be much weaker in concentration so it either takes a long time to treat, or the fish don't last long enough to know if the meds did work or if they would of worked.

Try getting something clear in the tank to catch them, then try herding them into it.

Just got in for the evening and will begin my search. I'm more fortunate than 01saleen in that I'm breaking my system down to change out stands this weekend and re-aquascaping while I'm at it. I won't have a problem catching the anthia and will quarantine to medicate her. Off to search...............
