those threads are good to read so you know what you are dealing with but none of those methods have really worked. i have been PM free for over 2 months now, just buy running a large amount carbon in a flow through container. if your adding anything that contains iron (trace elements, ect..)i would stop using it. and also if you use any type of GFO (Rowaphos, Phosban) make sure you use it in a reactor and pass all the water that comes out of the reactor over carbon.

where are you getting this advice? just curious... I am battled pm before... and lost...

i left the display without clams for a few weeks and tried a new one... this one is doing fine. I have a second new one in qt now. I am going the overly preventative route now but i don't mind reading up on new ways to deal with the problem...

from following every thread i could find on PM over the last 2 years.

in one thread in particular, (indirectly related to PM, rapid death af multiple clams over a 3 day period) A Dr. chimed in about a study He/She participated on the effects of iron on Perkinsus protozoa. in effect causing the protozoa to go into overdrive (its been proven that the cause of PM is an unidentified protozoan) adding carbon will remove excess iron.some others have reported that after they treated there tanks with flatworm exit,PM went away. part of the flatworm treatment is to run a large amount of carbon.
