Pink carpet anemone

IMO a pink carpet is just a bleached red one. So even if you do find a pink one, given the right condition, it will eventually regain its deep red color.

No, this one i saw was 14 inches big.. it was enormous and natural.. i dont think it was colored

I dont think he is implying that the one at the store was colored- there is an intense red variety of that anemone that makes it into the hobby once in a while. Its likely that a bright pink carpet is actually a red one that has bleached out as a stress response somewhere along the line. In all likelihood, assuming it survives and recovers, it will darken up to a nice red again. That aside- even the red ones are Beautiful.

As far as where to find them... youve got to be lucky (and have a lot of expendable cash on hand). There arent many around. Look for a shop that specializes in high end marine stuff; they are the ones that are most likely to get a hold of a red carpet.

If only that were true... But I think you're on the right track with some of them at least. The pink ones I've seen seem to be either bleached brownish ones that have a very faint pink color or most commonly are faded purple carpets. I'm sure there are some natural pink ones out there, but I have yet to see a particularly bright or attractive one. I have seen a bleached red carpet and it was mostly white but with a very tiny bit of orange. After seeing that I just couldn't see how a red one could look pink when bleached.

this was neon pink and healthy and 14 inch wide! it was rare.. i dont think faded.. let me see pic of red one..

the lfs said they will get more pink ones...

If it looked liked the one that Kar93 posted ( at least the color since they are different anemones ) then it was bleached.

The phrase "neon pink" is really making me think that it is. But, a picture should would be nice.
