Pink Milli

My pink milli browned after a week, is it dead or will moving it retune color and polyp extention?

If it still has tissue and it not stark white skeleton it may color back up.

Smell it. No smell its dead put the skeleton in your ca reactor. If it smells like coral drop it back in the water and get your water right.

No smell and I lowered it to the bottom now!

Unless you've tested your Iodine and strontium you should not be dosing it, water changes should take care of replenishing these. Also if it browned out it could mean that it wasn't getting enough light so putting it at the bottom will not help. BTW how long has your tank been running, it could just be that you tank is not mature enough. My suggestion is if the tank has not been running for a while you should start off with a few inexpensive pieces (green slimmer, birdsnest) and see how does do and don't add anything that you don't want to lose until you have success with the inexpensive corals. Tanks been running for little over 2years, just recently explored the SPS keeping. Doing well with green and pink birdsnest, montis, and two green acros. Have trouble with millis!!! :angryfire:
Not the 1st time some one suggested not to dose things don't test for think now I'll take that advice!!

Well thats that... Think I'll wait few weeks before buying SPS and test each week till pars are spot on. The other sps I have are doing great and growing, just haven't had any luck with millis and other blue color acros!!!:headwally:

However often do you dose Strontium and Iodine? I doubt its from dosing strontium or Iodine. I know many people that dose weekly but dont test. I myself dose bi weekly with no ill effects. If anything I can see the impact after I dose. I would think the vodka or mb7 before a cap or 2 a week of strontium would fry a milli. Carbon dosing can be a tight rope from what Ive heard.

I dose Lugol's daily and I dont test for iodine. I under dose it though. Give the milli some time and place it low for now and see how it does.

Really, you dose iodine daily?? Seems like a lot in a 40, JMO. In my tank I'm dosing 1 drop every 3 days. Anymore than that would probably kill my cleaner shrimp.

I was dosing 1 drop/day in my 100g and thought THAT was too much. I don't dose it at all anymore.

Mine bottle says 1 drop per 35g daily and my system is 50g, so that is under dosing. According to the bottle anyways. I have seen improvement in my blues since dosing.

I was dosing daily of Iodine (16 drops) and Strontium weekly (1 capful), stop for now till I get test kit. Think it would be safer this way and I could see if levels are too high or low.
