Pink Skunks pic

Looks like my pink skunks have started pairing. They're still quite small but they threw out the melanopus who has been sharing their tank. Also, one is definately growing faster/more than the other. Hopefully in another 6 months or so they'll decide to start laying....

That is a great photo. I've been wanting a pair of pink skunks for awhile now.

It's sort of hard to tell but there is a mushroom rock behind them. Once they kicked the melanopus out of the tank they started hosting in those. The little one has a couple of little bites out of his tail right now so I guess he hasn't completely agreed to let the bigger one run the house yet. But it is nice to watch them starting to host.

Also, their submissive behavior seems to be quite a bit different than my clarkii. Rather than sitting in place and shimmying as the clarkii do these guys tend to sort of shake and dart. I don't know if it is particular to this pair, where they are in their pairing or if it is normal for this species. It is the first clowns I've owned from the skunk family so I don't know what is normal yet.

Nice fish,, an infrequent aquarium spawner though,, and very finicky when they finally do,, any small stress event can stop them spawning.
