Pink Tail trigger owners please chime in!

Hello everyone,

I have one in a 160 gal tank with a yellow tang, chisel tooth wrasse and two clowns. I would like to add a fish or two but afraid that the pink tail would kill them. Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance..

Planktonic feeding triggers are generally fairly passive. I kept one in a mixed softy reef for a couple of years with no issues. Tankmates included a foxface, a P. volitans lion, an Aussie CBB, and a few other smaller fish.

Has your fish ever been aggressive, or are you simply wondering since it's the first fish in the tank (very pretty tank, BTW).

Thank you. He does fight with the yellow tang from time to time. I guess the yellow tang is probably more of a threat?

The size of the pinktail AND the size/type of the other fish you're adding is what we need in order to make a good educated guess.

My pink tail is the most aggresive (and newest) fish in my tank. He dominates my bluethroat (go figure) and chases my two tangs around the tank. Hasn't bothered any inverts or small fish to my knowledge. I've had him about 3 months.

I just wouldn't add anything super small, mine only went after little fish. He was actually bullied to death by my foxface so not real aggressive, but capable of taking out snack sized fish.

IO would agree , my pink tail is very passive if anything he gets his rass kicked by my sailfin tang :( actually just added him bout 4-5 days ago but seems very timid in a fast moving tank :)
