does anyone know if the pink tail trigger is reef safe?..i love this fish,i have successfully kept Niger triggers in my reef tank (110 gallon)..... I am now upgrading to a 180 gallon reef tank and wanted to know if anyone has had any bad experiences with this fish....iv heard a lot of conflicting stories...

thanks for your help

You wont get anything but conflicting stories with triggers and most angel fish.. Sure some have luck with them but in general they aren't reef safe.. These kind of fish are the ones you really just have to try if you really won't one.. Just be prepared to remove him if needed.. I myself dont add risky fish to my 180.. Its a large tank and with Rock work I find it a PITA to try and remove a trouble fish.. If I lost a couple of 70 dollar corals over a fish I'd be a very unhappy guy ;)

yeah you are right just not worth the hassle, you would think i would have learnt that by now as many times i have lost corals and had to tear down a tank to catch a fish!!

What always gets me is seeing someone with a full blown reef with fish I've had nothing but touble with..Ask them about it and they haven't had s single issue.. I love Triggers. I've wanted one for a long time.. But I just can't bring myself to set up a FOWLR.. I just like the look of reefs to much.. A tank with just fish and rocks just doesn't look so good to me.

I can't swear they still have it but I believe Sarris' had a Pink tail that someone brought in that had been in a reef with no problems.
