What would cause pink calcerous algae to suddenly turn chalky white? My Calc is 420, Alk is 3 meq/l, ph is 8.1, but my mg is 1500+! Is that the culprit?

One of the side effects is potential loss of color in certain SPS, or from what I can see, anything calcium dependant. All of my coraline is bleached or very light pink right now.
One of the things I was happiest about wasn't so much what it did with my zoos (effects were minimal for me), but the total annialation of the red cotton candy algae I've had since I set up the tank.
