Well, I knew it would happen sooner or later. My pink velvet jumped (my tank is covered with a screen cover) needless to say it didnt work well enough. I found him laying on top of the screen still damp and breathing.

The ironic part is that earlier in the day I was reading an article in a fish magazine about what to do if your fish jumps out.

here is what I did, I immediately put him back in and he sunk to the bottom. I then grabbed a hold of him and placed him in front of a gently flowing powerhead and held him in my hand while I rocked him back and forth. Kind of like when you catch a fish, fishing and you want to release him.

So far I think he just might make it, hopefully he will.

I found my large heniochus sitting on top of my eggcrate recently  I swear I need a bolted down lid on that FO!

he seems to be ok, sleeping now and breathing normally, I got lucky and found him early. Its funny though, whenever I walk into the room where the tank is I first look on the floor for 1 of my 2 wrasses and then look in the tank for them.

my wife called me today because she found a wrasse on the floor. said it was not moving and just floated around the tank when she placed it in. So I search my tank and its nowhere to be found. thinking it got sucked into the over flow I look and there it is Alive! So I bet it pulls through

Also like you I do a wrasse check daily as they just seem to find a way to jump out of the tightest spot.

I found a six line of mine on the ground drying out. I picked it up and put it in a net where a gentle current could get to it. That was in the evening and the next morning I let him out of the net and he is still kicking 5 years later. His name is Lucky.
