I have had my pink bar goby for about 7 months and everything has been great. I recently decided to provide him with a tiger pistol shrimp which was much smaller than him. The two found each other in less than 10 minutes and the pistol went to work on a more secure burrow than the goby was living in. The whole time the pistol was working on the burrow the goby stood guard out front of the hole and would not eat only run other fish and inverts away. This lasted for about 5 days which caused the goby to really thin out I mean to the point I did not think he was going to make it. Yesterday I thought he was dead as I could not find him but around feeding time I took a flash light and looked in the burrow and they were both there. First time the goby was in the hole and not standing gaurd. I fed the tank and the goby popped out and ate 2 mysis shrimp and went right back in the hole same thing at dinner time and again this morning only 2 mysis shrimp I counted. This fish used to eat like a machine before the pistol. Is it possible he was just adjusting to the pistol shrimp? I'm just scared with him as thin as he is that he wont make it.
