Pinpoint PH Monitor question

I know you're supposed to keep the probe wet at all times but I never understood how to store the probe if it's not in contact with your water full time.... it says 4.00 calibration fluid and potassium chloride. I've just been putting the probe back into the cap..it's stays wet....is this ok? Does the monitor lose accuracy over time if its not in this solution?

If it's dry, the sensor may crack. Just get a little cup with KCl and keep the sensor submersed in it. Doesn't have to be a lot, enough to cover the sensor.

The glass pH sensing membrane may also require service in some applications. This membrane can become dehydrated or coated with a thin layer of deposits. The best procedure for cleaning or rehydrating the glass is to soak the probe in a pH buffer of 4.0 for several hours. If this does not work then immersing the probe in hot buffer 4.0 solution will usually work
