How do you frag these, can you just break them appart? They seem like they would break appart pretty easly, but i want to know if thats the right way.

It is very easy to crush the polyp within the tubes, so be as careful as possible when fragging them. I would just carefully break them, if at all. Is there any particular reason you want to frag it?

it's growing really fast and the little new ones of the edges are growing horazontal, becuse there is nowhere for them to go, but mostly it's just getting huge.

Yes, they do tend to continually make horizontal growth, along with some vertical as well. Notice at each level, you have tube going vertically, and a plate going horizontally. Like I said, you can simply break it, but be very careful (which is exactly how they are collected, minus the "careful" part). Not much else you can do.

I used a razor blade to cut it as close to the rock as possible. This will not completely remove it, though. It has grown back as strong as it was before cutting it (not an easy task given that the rock is not flat). Maybe scraping with a toothbrush to remove as much as possible after cutting it off the rock? Mine stings my SPS...

wow, you guys have great skill. i have a "huge 3 polyp colony" LOL, of tubipora musica that i got for like $5.oo, and expected to have it grow into a massive colony. ( i like to by very small frags or colonys and let them grow large) the dang things aint growing! i started with like 5 polyps, and i have 3 now, which obviously isnt alot. im pretty dissapointed

yeah mine is prett big probally 8" by 6" or something like that. Its brown and green and has the red tubes that they retract into.

I have had a colony for years. It often grows so big that I have to throw it out. To frag it all you do is break some off, and set it next to a rock you want it to growon. It will soon attach, and away you go.

i got 3 stalks from my LFS for free (they were on the ground of the tank.. and i said hey can i have those.. lol)

started with 3, now at about 50+ in a year.. probably more.
I love the way it looks, especially when it waves in the current.

I wonder how big it is now.. (i havn't been home in 2 months)

how long have you had it.I have the same type it will grow like crazy. You will get fed up of the growth rate.Stick a small rock next to the pink skin.Leave it and wait.It will take sometime before it spreads. You can feed the coral to encourage growth but believe me this thing will grow.
