Pipe Organ question

I read your article on propagation of the pipe organ. Here is my question: We had this big, gorgeous pipe organ that was doing great for quite a while--and then--almost overnight--the vast majority of it died. There appeared to be a clear film over part of it, and when we took a dropper and squirted it to try to clean off the film, most of the "blooms" immediately dislodged. However, there is a small portion of the coral that seems to be thriving--the "blooms" appear to be spreading across the skeleton in a limited area around it. I wondered if the coral can "regrow." I'll bet not, but the portion that was left alive does seem to be spreading!
If not, should I cut away the "dead" skeleton from the living part?
Thanks!

I would watch the dead portion for a week or so and if nothing is growing back, break it off. Keep the colony in high flow and light and it will grow back really fast. Check for nudi's on the colony and dip it if necessary.
